Intro to Portraiture in Oils (6 week course)

Join me for an introductory course to painting a portrait in oil paint held over six sessions in my art studio, located in Gawler East. Participants will learn how to prepare and draw up their canvas with accuracy, and how to mix flesh colours and match to a reference. With a maximum group size of 6, every participant is guaranteed 1:1 support.
Suitable for beginners to both oil paint and/or portraiture. Perfect for Visual Arts Teachers and Year 12 Visual or Creative Arts students looking to extend their painting skills. Participants will be provided a list of materials for the course so you can continue painting (optional).
So set aside time to stretch your skills in a relaxed environment - and paint the portrait of your choice!

Participants will receive a stretched canvas 12x16” and the use of brushes, paints and related practical materials while in attendance at the studio sessions.
The AJ ARTS CO studio is located in the front room of my home in Gawler East. We have two dogs who may shout out a greeting as you arrive. They will not be part of the session, but as this is their home too they may find a way of wriggling their way in to say hello. Participants will be working at standing benches with the option of a high stool. I have a table I can set up if there is an accessibility concern - please get in touch so I can support you. As we’re in my working studio space it is important due care is taken not to damage any art works in progress. Note that commissions in progress will be stored discretely during studio sessions so as to reduce the risk of them being photographed or revealed ahead of schedule. Participants must be 16yrs+ to attend this course. Please be advised non-attendance to any of the sessions will not be refunded or rescheduled.
